Train

 

The walk from the station is 5-10 minutes. Come out of the station and walk to the traffic lights on the left. Cross the road to left, down to next set of lights (BETFRED is on the corner). Cross the road to the pedestrian’s area. Walk through this keeping M&S, House of Fraser on your left until you come to Castle Street. The Cathedral is on the left. The road going right is St Mary’s Gate. Walk down on the left side to a black door with a stone pillar on each side. A sign on the door says ‘Entrance to Carlyles Court Offices’. Go through this door and up to the first floor (lift available). Once you are onto the balcony you will see a door opposite and it has a number 2 on it.

Car

 

Where you come from will dictate which way you come into Carlisle. The nearest big car park is The Lanes. Follow the signs for The Lanes car park. From the car park, the walk to the assessment centre is approximately 5 minutes. Go to the ground floor, turn right and go through the Lanes to Scotch Street. Go through the arch between Costa Coffee and The Body Shop (this is St Albans Row). Turn right at The Guildhall onto Fisher Street. First left is St Mary’s Gate and then follow directions as per the directions from the train station.

 

There is limited amount of disabled parking on the street round the corner on Castle Street.

Bus

 

From the Bus Station, the walk to the Assessment Centre is approximately 7 minutes. Cross Lowther Street into The Lanes. Follow directions as from The Lanes car park. The walk from the nearest bus stop is 7 minutes.

Notes from this Centre

Please note this is a first floor assessment facility. The Assessment Centre can be accessed by lift but if an emergency evacuation of the building is required, such as a fire alarm, the lift cannot be used. There are 23 steps to the ground floor. If you think that you would have difficulty going down the stairs unaided in the event of an emergency, please ring the Appointments Help Desk number on the accompanying letter at least two days before your appointment date so that we can make alternative arrangements for you.
